40th Reunion

Dear Class of 1986, 

Here is the 40th Reunion registration packet you’ve been awaiting. The Citadel Homecoming weekend is November 6th - 8th 2026. The headquarters hotel is the Ferry Wharf Embassy Suites in Mount Pleasant. The entire block of reserved rooms (110 rooms) is sold out, but the hotel may have rooms available at regular rates. If not, our best advice is to look for a hotel in Mount Pleasant close to the Friday night party.  

On Friday night, we have a great party planned at the Cooper River Room in the Mount Pleasant Visitors Center. This is an indoor/outdoor venue (mostly outdoor), so dress casually for the weather. It’s located just a couple of blocks from the headquarters hotel, so you can walk and not drive.  A circle of food trucks will be serving wood-fired pizzas, seasonal salad, chicken cutlet sliders, traditional meatballs with marinara, fried shrimp baskets, fried calamari baskets, smash burgers and shrimp rolls- plus a coffee & dessert bar with mini cannolis, Italian cookies and Brown Butter brownies (aka Congo bars)! Open bar? Absolutely!  

On Saturday, enjoy campus life, attend parade, and then join us at the “Tailgate Party.”  The tailgate party is located on campus in the parking lot behind Capers Hall. Look for the big tent and Class of 1986 signs. Top Shelf Catering is serving brisket, pork BBQ and BBQ chicken with traditional sides. It’s all you can eat and all you can drink. Open bar?  Absolutely! AND our ladies can use the nice bathrooms in Capers Hall!! We have to make a contribution to the School of Humanities for use of the venue, so we will put out a TIP JAR - show your appreciation and help us fill it.  

From the tailgate party, march into the stadium with your classmates to watch The Citadel vs. Furman football game. You must have a football ticket to enter the stadium and march with the Class. Football tickets are not included in the registration packet. The link to purchase your football tickets can be found on the class website: www.cid86.com.  

Keith Hughes is handling the registration process. You can find the registration form enclosed in this letter or on the class website: cid86.com. You can scan and email the form to Keith or send it through US mail. Payment can be made by check or credit card. We ain't  doing cloud money - Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, etc.  Follow Keith’s instructions on the form and call/email him with any questions. THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS SEPTEMBER 18, 2026.  

The 40th Reunion is shaping up to be our best reunion ever. Woody Watford is putting together a super quality SWAG package. This year you will get two different style hats: the traditional cotton twill cap and a camo hunting hat. And yes, extra hats are available to order on the Registration Form. THANKS WOODY! For early Thursday arrivals, we may pick a local establishment to gather informally, but otherwise, nothing scheduled for Thursday evening. Saturday night is open to continue making new memories with old friends.
